Jessica Ann Simpson Johnson, born July 10, 1980 is an American actress, performer as well as entrepreneur and philanthropist. After performing in church choirs as a young girl, Simpson signed with Columbia Records in 1997, aged seventeen. Sweet Kisses (1999), her debut album, was sold two million copies in America. The single "I Wanna Love You Forever" was a commercial smash. Simpson's second studio album, Irresistible, was a maturer release. Its title track became Simpson's second-highest charting Billboard Hot 100 entry. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) declared the album gold. This Skin (2003) was her third studio album. It sold three million copies in the United States. Simpson was well-known for her friendship with Nick Lachey and her wedding to him. Simpson also appeared on MTV's reality show Newlyweds, Nick and Jessica, between 2003 and 2005. Simpson made her film debut on The Dukes of Hazzard (2006) as Daisy Duke after the release of ReJoyce The Christmas Album (2004). She also sang the cover version of "These boots are made for Walking" for the soundtrack of the film. In 2006, she debuted her fifth studio album A Public Affair and appeared in the romantic comedy film Employee of the Month. Following the release of her sixth studio album Do You Know (2008), Simpson moved into the genre of country music. Simpson also released The Jessica Simpson Collection, a fashion-focused line that offers 34 categories of products. It's been the most successful known brand licensed by a celebrity with more than $1 billion in sales to date. She was also a star on The Price of Beauty, which was a reality-TV show in the year 2010. She also judged the designs for clothing for Fashion Star 2 and 3. Simpson is married to Eric Johnson with whom she has three kids.
